DO meters are used in aquaculture/aquaponics frequently.

Hi, Just wanted to let you know that DO meters do exist, I saw one in the display case at a marine aquarium store here in NYC recently. Aquarists, aquaculturists, and aquaponic growers often use them.

I do however agree that if you have an air stone and or water turbulence with exposure to fresh air, DO won't be an issue for hydroponics. When you have fish involved, this is much more important. Especially if you have lots of them.
