Grow Box Outside, in Heavy Rain......

My neighbor and I were wondering what happens to rain when a grow box is outdoors? I suspect not much would get inside the container, due to foilage and lid, correct? Great site! Thanks.

Answer: It all depends on what you consider a "grow box" to be. For example, check out the video submitted to me by another visitor....

Larry is a retired carpenter with 40 years experience, and he considers this his little "grow box". Obviously, not everyone is going to build a whole out-building and roof it, but a grow box can be as sophisticated or as low-tech as the owner would like it to be. Many professionally made grow boxes have solid tops and open from the front, making them entirely water proof. This is really the ideal situation, since once drop of water landing on a hot high pressure sodium light bulb can cause it to crack or explode. I hope you make this an important consideration if you decide to build your own grow box, as this can be very dangerous. Be safe- and Happy Growing!
