Metal Halide light bulb?

by Larry
(Skykomish WA. US)

I bought a halide light bulb, 600w, online. How do I know it is indeed a halide grow bulb? The bulb says, metal halide lamp, MH-600w.

Answer: Larry- the light bulbs for high intensity discharge lights (HID lights) are also known as "lamps". A Metal Halide lamp can also be called a Halide lamp for short, and the abbreviation for it is MH. If your bulb says "metal halide lamp", you can be sure it is a Halide light bulb. If it says "MH-600W", this also indicates it is a Halide light bulb (of 600 watt strength).

Metal Halide lamps come in a variety of shapes and sizes....if your new bulb looks different than your old bulb, this often becomes a source of concern for the owner. Just follow the advice above and make sure the type is correct, and make sure the watt size is correct, and you should be fine. Hope this helps!
